Mike Meyer, the owner of MTS, has more than 35 years experience in environmental consulting. He has a master of science degree from the University of Iowa (1978, MS Geology). His experience includes two years with the Iowa Geological Survey. His thesis, the hydrogeology of the Floyd River aquifer, was published by the IGS. He spent 10 years with the SD Dept of Environment and Natural Resources as a senior hydrologist. He participated in writing the State groundwater quality standards and worked on a variety of pollution problems including mining, landfills, feedlots, sewage lagoon and petroleum and chemical leaks. He computerized groundwater quality data for all the aquifers in the State. Mike played a lead role in the investigation of the Williams Pipeline-Hayward School incident leading to a multimillion dollar settlement.  He participated in the investigation of cases of infantile methemoglobinemia and presented talks and papers on this (co-authoring a paper in the Journal of the American Medical Association).

Mike spent 20 years as a senior project manager for a major environmental consulting firm. He participated in the start of the company and the development of their environmental and indoor air quality efforts. He developed the mold testing services for the company. While with the company, he spent 12 years working on approximately 1000 mold and indoor air quality problems. In 2009, Mike presented a mold paper at an international conference (ISIAQ). He has presented talks on mold and IAQ to many professional groups.

Mike began MTS in early 2010. As of 2015, he completed more than 1000 mold and IAQ assessments. MTS works closely with the major cleaning firms in the Sioux Falls area. As a small business, MTS can offer flexibility that larger firms cannot.

Mike is a certified microbial investigator (CMI) – certified by the American Council for Accredited Certification. He is a member of the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA), Internat. Society of Indoor Air Quality (ISIAQ), American Society of Heating, Ventilation and Refrigeration (ASHRAE). Locally, he is a member of the South Dakota Claims Association, Sioux Falls Home Builders Association (HBA) and the Realtors Association of the Sioux Empire (RASE). Mike has presented a number of papers at IAQA conferences.
